This 10,039m2 museum was built as Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij (NHM) or Factorji Batavia in 1929 by three architects: J.J.J de Bruyn, A.P.Smits and C.Van de Linde. NHM was officially opened by C.J Karel Van Aalst, the 10th President of NHM, on January 14, 1933. NHM was taken over as Bank Koperasi Tani dan Nelayan (BKTN) in 1960. It then become the Head Office of Indonesian Bank of Export and Import (EXIM Bank) in 1968. In 1999, after the merger of Exim Bank with Mandiri Bank, this building turned out to be one of Mandiri Bank assets.
